“A promising start from Ruam Jai last night. The Thai Green Curry was especially nice, and the mixed starter for two has a lot of lovely different flavours to try. Staff very attentive. Looking forward to "eating in" soon.”

“We had a takeaway from there last night. It was super-cala-fraj! :) Char-grilled chicken with papaya salad, egg fried rice & fried noodles. It was all fresh & tasty. Staff were very friendly and polite. Defo using them again, just cant decide whether to have a fish or steak dish! Ben”

“A village friend of mine said she went for a Friday night takeaway and was told that Friday = no takeaways. Is this correct? Nothing on the website or hard copy leaflet says so... I think we should be told. ”

“I have been told the same Mr Wolf ... I might call in tomorrow and have a chat with them ... Get the facts direct, as we all know what village gossip can be like!”

“sorry, i have not been on in a while, to answer your question mark TAKEAWAY --6PM TILL 7.30PM---FRIDAY AND SATURDAYS 6PM TILL 10.30PM--TUES,WED,THURS,SUN WE ARE CLOSED MONDAYS the reason we stop takeaway at 7.30 on friday and saturday is because we are fully booked in the restaurant. it would slow service and care to attention if we tried to deal with a packed takeaway sevice as well as being fully booked. i think this reflects how much we care for the food we serve and how it must meet our standards, please remember that thai food is unlike other takeaways, it takes much longer to prepare! and we certainly wont sacrifice our quality for greed. thanks all for the kind comments :) we are improving all the time and we thank you for your understanding as the teething problems are being delt with. best regards Robin Shepherd”

“Can understand why the take away has to take a back seat when you have bums on seats in the restaurant. Also once again well done for your PR Robin. It is never nice when someone points out the bad but as you will have read on here the locals are very positive about what they have tried with their comments! Sadly I am not a fan of Thia food but the wife is so maybe one day I might be tempted to try something. Are you serving Tim Taylor's in the bar? Also village "nettle vine" rumour = Is it true you might be planning a Muay Thai event/s in the village?”

“thanks Mark, we are not serving taylors in the bar im afraid, we have tetley smoothflow and carlsberg on tap, and a selection of thai beer..singha,chang.. we are noting what is asked for and are willing to cater for demand.(as we did with takeaway on fri and sat which for the 1st 2 weeks we did not serve at all) we will be doing a small Muay Thai demo at the next show we do in the restaurant, i will let you know when we have a date for this. Many thanks Robin”

“I dropped in at 9.30 on Saturday on the off chance of getting a takeaway. Oddly, I was first asked how many the takeaway was for. Just myself, I said. "Oh right, well we are busy, and it'll be up to an hour's wait." So I left. Now supposing I had been four people. Would the wait have become magically less? And yet had I decided to eat alone in the restaurant it seems that I would have had to wait an hour before eating which would have been unacceptable. Either a takeaway service with a shortish turn-round time should be offered, or none at all. Not this one with a Friday night hour and a half window, and an hour's wait on a Saturday. It rather contradicts the idea of a takeaway as convenience food... I'm sure the food is good and the people mean well, but I think a review of takeaways at the place is needed.”

“The Thai only offer a takeaway service for an hour early on fri and sat because they get busy and the wait would be too long. You asked at 9.30pm, way after the service was closed, they offered to accomodate you but told you there would be an hours wait, i think that complaining about them because they offered you a service when they were not serving takeaways is a bit cheeky. It is very difficult in this climate to get businesses to suceed, stop whinging when you were in the wrong in the first place. I think that only offering a short takeaway window is a responsible attitude to have, it shows they care about the service they give to their customers and they are not out for a quick buck!!!”

“thank you tracey :) the takeaway times are very clear!! had you told us the takeaway was for 4 people, we would have said no! but because you were on your own, we decided to make an exception but it would be up to an hour wait because we were very busy! we also offered you to take a seat and would be welcome to enjoy drinks untill it was ready. whats the problem?? ”

“Waiting an hour....THAT'S the problem. And if you have a fixed window for takeaways then stick with it. Just say "Sorry, we stop serving them at...(whenever)". I'd have taken that on board a great deal better than being made an exception of but then told to expect an hour's wait. "Way after the service was closed" - where is one supposed to read this "fact"? And my other point remains - would I have had to wait an hour if I'd decided to occupy one of the empty tables?”

“If you read the posts on this subject you would see that the times are clearly stated, count back 8 replies! they are also on the web site the news letter and the menus. I also think they have it in the window as well.”
