“My father, Clifford Binns died yesterday in Woodstock, Ontario Canada. He was in his 79 th year. His parents were Joseph Binns and Phoebe Binns. He was their last surviving son. He was born in Cowling, spent the war years in Chorley and emigrated to Canada with his parents in 1947. He had many cousins in the Cowling area. His father was the brother of Tom, David, George, Frank, Bill and sister of Patience. Cliff's obituary link is www.longworthfuneralhome.com I do have some photos of his parents which may be of interest.

“I am another 'Binns' from Cowling. Not the same line but I knew all the brothers and sister of Clifford. Frank taught me to weave in one of our local mills some 58 years ago. His brother Tom was the 'manager' of the mill. My sympathies go out to you and your family.”

“All us Cowling Binns's go way back to John Binns 1663-1731 born at Cloughheight in Keighley Parish, lived at Crag Top, Kildwick for 7 years, then moved to Carlton Biggin, a lovely place now - he married Abigail King 1682-1753 born near Marton. (From Binns family tree by late Kenneth Wilson -known to me as Mr. Kenneth- of Lothersdale).
Thanks to Cowlingweb - James and Cowling Binns families now in touch from other side of the world! Nice that Norman knew all the family too.”

“Deepest sympathy to you and all your family on your recent loss. My uncle John Bnns (a cousin) visited you all in Canada many years ago, before he was confined to a wheelchair. In fact he brought me a doll back from his visit and I still have it! John married my aunt and as you probably know both have since passed away, but she did tell me that John had cousins in Canada and that he really enjoyed his time visiting Canada, she also let me have Johns slides of his visit to you. Take care Allison”
