“Why should I vote in the forthcoming elections?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m frustrated by the way this country is being run, but it’s not the expenses revelations that’s my most pressing concern. It’s the little sneaky reductions in our rights and liberties that really upsetting me.
For example. Not long ago, bin men used to come into your garden, take your bin, empty it and return it to its place. Nowadays you can be fined if you put your own bin out at the wrong time or place the wrong rubbish in your bin. I’m all for recycling but I didn’t vote to give councils powers to criminalise people for poor timekeeping. Did you?
Speed camera’s, good idea outside schools and through villages, but now they are being erected on motorways by stealth, this can only be for revenue collection. Have you been down the A14 recently (Sorry I drive a lot for work)
Road pricing, don’t believe that it’s not on its way.
How dare the council even consider fining hard working parents for taking their children on holiday when they cannot afford to go during the school holidays.
Hospital car park charges, a tax on the ill and the people who care for them.
The all powerful health and safety excuse, banning conkers from schools, I ask you, just ridiculous. This started out as a good idea that people should not be exposed to dangers at work, like guards on chainsaws and the like. But conkers? Dangerous?
I could go on but, I don’t see any political party doing anything about these and many more creeping underhand restrictions being introduced. So why should I vote for any of them?
Please let me know,
”
