“Petition for council probe on Prime Minister's website
A petition has been lodged on the Prime Minister’s website calling for an investigation into Craven District Council.
Campaigner Peter Scott-Smith, from Long Preston, claimed the council was “no longer fit for purpose” and called for an investigation into its finances.
And he is calling on Craven ratepayers to join his protest and sign the petition.
Mr Scott-Smith demanded an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding a £2 million loan taken out at the end of 2008.
And he called for council members and former and current officers to be held to account.
“The Craven Herald and many contributors to its letters page have repeatedly called for an independent public inquiry into the affairs and management of Craven District Council,” he said.
“I would urge anyone who feels similarly angered at the contempt shown by CDC for its electorate to add their name to the 10 Downing Street petition.”
