“Hi, Would anyone be interested in starting up a Weight Watchers in the village? I think the nearest one at the moment is Steeton or Skipton and it just seems a bit of a bind to get there. It would be nice just to walk there. (burn off some calories)”

“Just started on diet as usual first week in Feb.- do not wish to waste any money on dieting- just self discipline, but would be nice to register weight each week with someone for free! Thanks.”

“Hi, I recently started a group at work... there are 27 of us now! We meet weekly for a weigh in then do 45 mins exercise after. Even people that don't need to lose any weight come along for the laugh! I'd be more than happy to help organise something in the village!”

“Hi Marie, Wow...27! I would def help organise something but wouldn't know where to start. I need 'the fear' of a weekly weigh in and the exercise would be great.”

“I have just started my diet on the same premise as Chubby and Hubby, I'm sure it would motivate me to stick to it if this wiegh in and excercise class took place.”

“Fab news! It def is motivational or perhaps the humiliation factor helps me stick to it!!! All we need is a venue - afraid my kitchen too small!!! Any ideas? Village Hall? We'd need a big enough area to set out a few 'circuit training' activities or whatever else takes our fancy! At work we all chip in with dance/exercise DVDs etc... possibilities are endless! Could do with getting in touch so we can all have a chat!”

“If I can be of any help with advertising both on the site or via printed posters I would be happy to do so !

Marie is also right you all could do with getting in touch with each other in person by email or telephone or face to face to arrange something? I would be happy to put you all in touch with each other via email if you all agree for me to pass on your email addresses?

A get together by like minded people is how Cowling history group Moonrakers was formed and is still going strong 5 years later!”

“Can I come too? I really, really need to get motivated and am finding it so hard - some local support would be great.”

Posted by Rachel | 11/02/2009 19:49:27

“Yeh - the more the merrier! If a venue for exercise couldn't be found straight away... I would be more than happy for people to come to my house. At least then we could start the weight loss side of things and help each other to stay motivated! I live at the top end of the village - what do you think?”

“Weight Watchers - The Bancroft Room at St Andrews, top of Walton Street is available Monday, Weds, Friday evenings. Sadly we would have to charge, possibly £12 per session. Contact Edna, 632487”

“Now lost 6 lbs. in 2 wks.- so the point of no return? Hubby lost 4 lbs. - must be the beer?
Please go for it now Marie and book the room for weigh- ins and discussion, I will help with room charge if no-one else turns up!”

“I would be interested and possibly a friend at work who also lives in the village (and maybe the mother in law if its on a Friday!), but I couldn't attend every week as i work shifts. Weigh in, exercise and sharing healthy food ideas would really help. Need other people to keep me motivated or i just throw in the towel. Please pass my email on Mark and if i can help in any way, i will”

“How fab! Lots of potential super models!!! We could have a float at the Gala - joking!!!! Can I check whether we are wanting to set up an official 'slimming club' eg Weight Watchers/Slimming World? Or... just a group of people getting together to do it our own way?! x”

Posted by Marie | 17/02/2009 16:51:58

“Not official slimming club for me thanks, you still have to do it yourself anyway - just a group to help each other along and weigh in each week - with easy excercise and share own ideas - will be sticking to my own diet as I know it works (3 stone off in 2000)!
Thanks Marie.”

Posted by Chubby | 17/02/2009 22:01:29

“Mentioned to my friend at work and she is definately interested. Not official - i want to stick to Chubbys diet. Need to be quick tho. I go on holiday in 10 weeks lol. Can bring my weigh *****chers dvd along so we can take some excercise ideas off that.”

Posted by Laura | 18/02/2009 09:33:00

“HA-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! But that took me about 10 months, will check with old diary!!!!!!!!!!!Put one and a half stone back on over years!”

Posted by Chubby | 18/02/2009 13:58:27

“Hi... right ...lets get this party started!!! We could set up a group on Wednesday? St Andrews? £12 room - share the cost, say £1 a week each? Time? I will give Mark my phone number if people want to get in touch. Then we can get in touch with Edna regarding the use of St Andrews... x”

Posted by Marie | 23/02/2009 20:18:34

“Any chance of another night in the week. As well as workin shifts I do my Avon deliveries on Wednesdays so would be attending even less - sorry :-(”

Posted by Laura | 25/02/2009 15:48:56

“Hi I would def be interested in joining, it would be good if there was an aerobics class too. please can you let me know if someone is going to set up a class through the website. thanks”

“Hi marie. This sounds like a good idea and I would very interested. Please pass my email on mark. I have exercise DVD's if needed. Most have not even been watched due to lack of will power!!! Keep me updated if poss. Also I'm with the not official idea. Thanks”

Posted by Kirsty | 12/03/2009 13:29:56

“Offer still stands if weight watchers would like to book St Andrews Hall. Most evenings are free (just means Playgroup have to clear the hall).”

Posted by Edna Smith | 13/03/2009 12:36:34

“Chubby has now lost 9 lbs. and Hubby has lost 10 lbs. (and still on the beer), very slow, but sure! Another lady has lost a stone on similar diet.”

Posted by Chubby and Hubby | 13/03/2009 22:15:09

“I would be very interested - but cant afford to go to Weight Watchers every week. I have to lose weight for medical reasons and need help.”
