Dog & Gun Public House

The Dog & Gun is an attractive old building which has been beautifully restored using traditional timbers and materials. The old atmosphere is today preserved with its thick walls, raised wooden floor, real fire stove and it's library corner. To further enhance it we've added another real fireplace, new toilets (the old ones won't be missed) and a new kitchen and patio area.

We are open 7 days a week and invite you to use the Dog & Gun as somewhere to meet, somewhere to eat, somewhere to enjoy your favourite tipple or a place to escape from the stresses of daily life.

Prior to the hostelry here, the Dog & Gun was a former farm house and later a coaching inn between Keighley & Colne and, we were told it was mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

In the 1900`s Sir John Horsfall owned the land and would allow no public houses in Glusburn area, but there were five inns in Sutton to compensate. Mr James Cowgill was landlord for 26 years and used to hold an annual sheep fair in the field to the rear of the car park, as well as running a very popular Cow Club, open to all the farmers in the parish which by all accounts was always well attended, no doubt because of the beer.

Timothy Taylor's award winning hand pulled fine ales are served, the quality of which is their forte. We aim to maintain that quality so you can enjoy that smooth creamy head all the way down the glass. Of course we also have a full range of wines, spirits and soft drinks should you prefer it.

Traditional Meals are served every day and are supplemented by daily specials, which are displayed on chalkboards within the pub.
