About Cowlingweb
Cowling Web is a free website dedicated
to Cowling Village, it's inhabitants,
history and the surrounding area known
as Cowling Parish.
The site is owned, built, funded and
hosted by Mark Wilson and his wife
Kathryn.
The idea for the site first came about
in August 1999, when the original idea
was to create a site to cover the whole
of the valley from Cowling down to
Kildwick. After some consideration that
idea was put on hold due to the size of
the prospective task. After some more
thought and a little research the site
was built in June/July 2001 and was
launched in August later that year.
Over the past seven years a great deal of
(very enjoyable) hard work has gone into
further research and development of the
site. Locals and historians including
Joan & Robin Tindale, Maurice Benson,
David Hoyle, Dennis Harker, Malcolm &
Edna Smith, Ken Edgar Jnr & Snr, Dorothy
Holmes, Trevor Smith (Swanley, Kent), Barry Emmott, Mark Barnes and
the members of Moonrakers history group
have all been invaluable in contributing
to the site.
The site has become far more popular
than we could ever have imagined and in
January 2005 a new design was launched
with a new Message Board & Galleries.
In November 2008 this design was
implemented and the site was re-built
from the ground up making it faster and
hopefully simpler for the visitor to
use.
We are always looking for people to get
involved with helping us build up more
content for the site with
photographs both old and new, news items
or anything interesting that people
would enjoy viewing.
If you would like to help, feel we
missed anything or have any ideas about
how we could improve the site please
feel free to get in touch via the >
Contact Cowlingweb < page.
We hope you enjoy viewing the site and
always like to hear from people so why
not put a message on the > Message Board
<
Mark & Kathryn.
